You might consider visiting an orthodontist if you have gaps in your smile or misaligned teeth. However, many residents of Santa Maria are hesitant to use conventional metal braces and would instead choose a more covert solution. Fortunately, Invisalign® is a great option, and you can receive it without visiting an orthodontist. These smooth, transparent aligner trays can treat a range of teeth-straightening issues and are practically unnoticeable.

Invisalign is a brand of clear, removable aligners that are used as an alternative to traditional metal braces to straighten teeth. They are made of a flexible plastic material that is custom-fit to the individual’s teeth and designed to gradually shift them into their proper position over time. Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible when worn and are generally more comfortable and easier to care for than traditional braces. They often correct many orthodontic issues, including overcrowding, gaps between teeth, overbite, underbite, and misalignment.

Only take them out to eat, clean your teeth, or floss. Aligners should be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day. Some of our Invisalign patients take them out for specific social occasions. Invisalign can straighten your teeth if you wear the aligners for at least 20 hours daily.

If you are having trouble with any of the following:

  • Uneven teeth
  • Crossing teeth
  • Gaps in between teeth
  • Overbite
  • Crossbite
  • Underbite
  • Open mouth

Remember that not everyone is a good candidate for Invisalign. Traditional braces might be a better option for more serious bite-related problems. To decide whether treatment is necessary for you, our Invisalign dentist will thoroughly examine your smile.

An initial consultation is the first stage of receiving Invisalign, during which Dr. Yu can evaluate the alignment of your teeth and the connection between your jaws. We can capture 3-D pictures of your smile with an iTero® digital scanner, which we will utilize to organize your treatment. Dr. Yu can chart your teeth’s progressive movement to ensure predictable outcomes. The Invisalign lab will use the scans of your smile that he sends there to create your personalized aligners.

Invisalign patients typically need between 18 and 30 aligners, and they can progress from one set to the next every few weeks. Throughout your treatment, you must arrange follow-up appointments with our office so that we can keep track of your progress and make any necessary corrections.
